Community College

Attending a community college has been a great option for many students. Historically, about 25% of BHS graduates choose to attend a community college each year. Some benefits of this post-secondary option are:

  • Affordability: Tuition and fees at a community college are a fraction of the same costs at a four-year school. There are also no room and board costs which can range from $10,000 to as much as $15,000 per year.

  • Open Admission: All applicants that apply to a community college are admitted. It’s the level of classes that a student is placed into that varies from applicant to applicant.

  • Flexibility in Academic Program Options: Students can choose from certification, apprenticeship and associate’s degree programs. Students can then transfer to a four-year school to complete their bachelor’s degree if they so choose.
