Scholarship Opportunities

BMO Private Bank is the trustee of the Agnes Krueger Trust from which the annual Agnes Krueger Scholarship Fund was established. Applicants for the scholarship must provide, in addition to the completed application, the following information and documentation:

• Proof of residency within Barrington 220
• Proof of acceptance at or current registration in a post-high school institution
• A written statement from the applicant confirming their pursuit of a degree in the field of music, or majoring in music;  a confirmation from a music teacher or head of the Fine Arts Department should accompany this statement.

Interlochen Center for the Arts was founded in 1928 and is located in beautiful northwest lower Michigan.  Each year, thousands of artists and arts patrons come to Interlochen to experience world-class educational and cultural opportunities.  Interlochen offers an extensive list of summer camps for young students who have a passion for the arts and are interested in studying music, theatre, visual arts, creative writing, motion picture arts or dance.

Award of the scholarship is dependent on the student being accepted into one of the Interlochen Summer Arts Camps in Michigan. The Lageshulte Interlochen Scholarship is awarded annually and will pay a maximum of $1000 of a student’s tuition to an Interlochen Summer Camp.  It is available to any current Freshman or Sophomore in Barrington 220 who will spend at least two additional years in the district upon completion of an Interlochen Summer Camp.  

Nancie Kozel-Tobison taught choir at Barrington High School for 18 years, sharing her passion and talent with thousands of students. The gift of music that she gave these students will live forever. In her honor, a scholarship fund has been established to recognize Nancie's passion, dedication to students, and love of music. The $1,000 scholarship is awarded annually to a senior who has made significant contributions to the BHS choir program and who has provided outstanding leadership during his or her BHS choir career. Phil Mark was a much-loved choral director at Barrington High School.  Unfortunately, he and his wife were tragically killed in a car accident in 1982.  A scholarship fund was set up in his honor for a Barrington High School student who is interested in studying music education in college. Each year the Fine Arts Boosters offer $100 lesson stipends to fine arts students that can be used toward lessons that are taken outside of school in any area of the arts.  These stipends are not need based, instead they are a means for our families to offset the costs of lessons/classes.  If a student is taking lessons/classes outside of BHS in any area of the arts (including band, orchestra, choir, acting, dance, visual arts or TV production), we encourage you to apply for a stipend.
